چکیده

We extend the popular NK model of complex landscapes to incorporate two realities of NPD: (1) complementary vs. conflicting dependencies in a project and (2) predominantly incremental design changes to components in evolutionary NPD projects. We show, through stylized projects that the nature of dependencies among system elements moderate the effect of system complexity. Our study highlights that NPD development times may be longer than the original NK model suggests. We offer a modeling framework that can be used to test hypotheses regarding actual systems. Finally, we discuss promising directions for future research. Published by Elsevier B.V. * Corresponding author. Tel.: +1 937 260 7296. E-mail addresses: [email protected], [email protected] (K. A dynamic risk analysis on new product development process

Abstract In the dynamic and competitive market, managers seek to find effective strategies for new products development. Since There has not been a thorough research in this field, this study is based on a review on the risks exist in the NPD process and an analysis of risks through FMEA approach to prioritize the existent risks and a modeling behavior of the NPD process and main risks using s...

A Study on Effective Factors on New Product Development with an Emphasis on Fuzzy Hierarchical Analysis Approach

Nowadays the new product and its importance are consideredas an essential strategy for staying in business. Though the hi-techindustry has focused on value innovation and improving the qualityof the new product development (NPD) process to drive new productperformance, new product success has not changed dramaticallyover the years. This study presents a novel approach based on structuralequatio...

Structuring the New Product Development Pipeline

In many new product development (NPD) situations, the development process is characterized by uncertainty, and no single development approach (e.g., a particular technological version) will necessarily lead to a successful product. In order to increase the likelihood of having at least one successful product at the end of the NPD process, managers may choose to fund simultaneously multiple appr...

A new multi-objective model for berth allocation and quay crane assignment problem with speed optimization and air emission considerations (A case study of Rajaee Port in Iran)

Over the past two decades, maritime transportation and container traffic worldwide has experienced rapid and continuous growth. With the increase in maritime transportation volume, the issue of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission has become one of the new concerns for port managers. Port managers and government agencies for sustainable development of maritime transportation considered "green ports" t...

Using Complexity to Simplify Knowledge Translation; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”

Putting health theories, research and knowledge into practice is a challenge referred to as the knowledge-toaction gap. Knowledge translation (KT), and its related concepts of knowledge mobilization, implementation science and research impact, emerged to mitigate this gap. While the social interaction view of KT has gained currency, scholars have not easily made a link between KT and the concep...
